THE ELECTORAL ROLL

Most years (five out of six), the Electoral Roll is just revised to reflect known changes (new joiners, deaths and people who have moved away). Existing roll members are just rolled over to the revised roll without any need to complete an enrolment form . Every 6 years, the Electoral Roll is completely new and everyone has to complete a new application form to join the Electoral Roll.

A New Roll was completed in 2025 so this year we just have to revise the Roll for known changes. As at 23 February 2026, the PCC has only been notified of 2 deaths so the draft revised roll would only show 103 members if it was published on 23 February 2026.

The Roll is revised in time for the APCM each year. Notice of the revision should be displayed 6 weeks before the APCM to allow for 14-28 days revision period followed by 14 days display of the newly revised Roll prior to the APCM. The 2026 APCM will be held on 31 May so the revision notices will be published in the latter half of April 2026. However anybody who would like to join the Roll can apply at any time. Please note that to comply with data protection requirements only names should be displayed on the published Roll, not people’s contact details

Applying to join the Roll

Please download and fill in the form online or pick up a paper copy in the churches.
Joining the electoral roll can confirm your commitment to the Parish community and to our
vision. It means that you can vote on any relevant issues at the annual parochial church
meeting (APCM) and stand for election to the PCC (the church council) and allows you to take
part in the life of the wider Church of England, at, deanery, diocese and even national levels, if
you’re interested. It is the closest thing the Church of England has to official membership, as
well as by coming regularly to Harnham Worship and participating in the life of the church, and
that would be your reason for being on the electoral roll.
To apply for the church electoral roll, you must:

  • be 16 years old or over (although you can apply in the year you become 16 and you can
be on the electoral roll once your birthday has passed)
  • be baptised
  • either live in the parish or have attended the church regularly for at least 6 months

We will keep your information secure in line with UK GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) regulations.

  • date of birth
