We are looking for people!

The Parish and Harnham have both flourished for 100s of years because people care for each other and have donated their time to help. Thank you.

We are looking for people to help keep both Churches and the Parish Hall open to serve Harnham.

Please give some of your time and skills if you can answer “Yes” or “Maybe” :

A. Are you both good with people and organized and would like to verge for weddings, funerals or burials.
This can involve: finding the grave spaces if necessary, set up the church ready, welcome those who
attend, ensure the church is cleared afterwards. Time taken ranges from 1 hour to 3 hours. DBS and
basic safeguarding training required. One off payment.

B. Are you organized and concerned about the church buildings? Could you process the paperwork and
invite the correct businesses to tender for the repair of St George’s leaking roof. This will need leadwork
across the join between the sanctuary roof and the chancel area. Volunteer.

C. Do you like to be outside and enjoy history! Someone to keep an up-to-date record of our churchyards.
Volunteer. Volunteers to tidy up St George’s churchyard before the Patronal Festival.

D. People to read in church. The readings are provided in advance. Volunteer.

E. People who enjoy governance, with an overview of the mission of the parish. Six x 2 hour meetings of
PCC per year with reading time of documentation before hand. Volunteer.

F. Are you interested in accessibility and inclusion? We are looking to improve access to FIELD VIEW, next
to the hall. You would be part of a team organizing the installation of a disabled toilet by reconfiguring
the kitchen, adding a veranda and new French windows to Field View. Teamwork. One-off project.
Volunteer.

G. Chair of fundraising Develop a new FRIENDS of Harnham Churches to invest in necessary projects for
the church and hall buildings. Volunteer.

H. Churchwardens with a focus on governance. People who can delegate roles. The role includes
preparing, with others, the standing agenda for PCC. Liaising with the new Parish Coordinator on rotas,
ensuring that nothing from the churches that is moveable goes missing! Volunteers.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THIS YEAR’S FUN DAY AND PARISH FETE

Can you help bring us fun and fundraising to Harnham on Saturday 25 July, 2 – 5 pm? Volunteers are needed for stalls, sideshows, refreshments, welcome, set up and clear away. Last year around 800 people attended, so we need lots of volunteers! Please complete the contact form you will find in the churches or the Hall from 12 April, and return it to Emma Wilson in person or through the parish office. Thank you.’
