Large Hall – booking for events & parties

The hall is ideal for wedding receptions, family get-togethers, anniversaries, birthday parties, exhibitions and shows .  It is also regularly used by many local groups during the week for a variety of activities such as Ki Aikido, Table Tennis, Painting Classes, Parties, Club Meetings and Music for the Mind Cafes.

Typical party timings and costs

Most parties are for 3 to 5 hours and typically it will take an hour to set up (tables, balloons, banners, drink and food preparation etc) and an hour to dismantle and clean the Hall.

Lunch, tea and childrens parties tend to be shorter (around 3 hours) and evening parties tend to be longer (around 5 hours).  Weddings that combine a Wedding tea followed by a dinner and dance typically book the Hall for the whole day.

Typically hirers budget between £180 and £300 for a party with Wedding events approaching £500.

Guest Wifi is available to all hirers. The PA  and loop hearing system in the Large Hall has twin bluetooth connectors so you can easily stream or play your own music.

Hire fees

Our hire rate is £36 per hour for the Large Hall with a deposit of £50 (or £100 if alcohol will be served). The hire rate incudes shared use of the commercial grade kitchen as well as tables, chairs, crockery and cutlery for 100 people. There is no additional charge for parking in the Parish Hall car park.

Hirers frequently book the Large Hall and Field View (formerly the Meeting Room – rate discounted 50% to £9 per hour) to ensure dedicated use of the shared kitchen and a quieter area for family conversations or as a place to lay out food. 

Provided it is not been used by the Scouts, hirers can also hire the Parish Hall Field (rate discounted 50% to £9 per hour) to the West of the 1996 extension that contains the shared kitchen and Field View. We have to check with the Scouts to see if they are planning any event where they would like to use our part of the field. For Weddings and other large events we recommend contacting the Scouts to hire their field and their car park.

As is now common practice, we no longer accept cheques or cash for the hire of rooms in the Parish Hall.

Please read all three documents and then complete and sign the Booking Form and Safeguarding Agreement. 

Please fill in your bank details on the booking form so we can return any deposit by bank transfer to your bank account.

We just need a scanned copy or photo of the signed documents returned by email to: hallbookings@harnhamparish.org.uk

Key Collection
Once you have paid and returned the scanned signed forms by email, a key can be collected from the Parish Office between 15.00 and 16.30 on the Friday before your booking except for Fridays before bank holiday weekends.

The Friday afternoon time slot is also a weekly opportunity to view the Parish Hall and discuss options for any event.
